Ted Meekins, the first man of color to ascend upwards on the rungs of success of the Police Department in the City of Bridgeport - Connecticut's single largest city - speaks with the African-American Historical Association of Fairfield County, Connecticut after being named a recipient of the 2011 Carter Woodson Award.
As Meekins had been instrumental in bringing class action litigation against the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut which had successfully opened the barricades of bigotry which existed a scant 30 years ago---while creating a new, less stifling air of ethnic and non-mysogynistic tolerance which has resulted in a police force which boasts a unilaterally, multi-ethnic police force complete with an African-American Police Chief.
